BAS PLUS Vehicle Safety and Accident Avoidance

I'm getting sick of the QUANTITY of CAPITALISED pseudo SAFETY-ASSIST type SYSTEMS mercedes keep banging on about and giving to their marketing departments so the guy with a deep voice and subtle germanic accent can narrate fancy advertising videos.
JC on a stick! just call it MB safety nanny V1, V2, V3, V4 .. and put out a sheaf of release notes with each car. Because that is what it is.

Anyway, I like the nomenclature. It makes sense, it's short and is recognizable. And there's nothing pseudo about them.
But it does annoy me, the nomenclature is annoying: the steady drip of new acronyms that accompany what are basically just incremental improvements to one overall system.
They won't keep them all (the individual names), there are too many now. By the time the system reaches anything like the capabilities it needs to match (say) the google self driving car abilities - there would be hundreds.
The belief in the marketing community is that they have to have some headline tagline to reach their customers. They know this appears to be tacky to many but, apparently, the taglines make a difference in some segments of car buyers.

The 2014 E's further advanced that technology by adding additional radars that operate at lower speeds and can detect traffic coming from the side, including pedestrians. This is called Bas Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist (is able to detect cross traffic and also pedestrians, and if necessary boost the braking power applied by the driver accordingly) On the E's, the collection of all of the 'Assists' is all referred to as "Mercedes Intelligent Drive".
Here is a link with a nice set of visuals and more detail.

The site is only showing it on the "E" right now, but that is one of the few 2014 models that have been released, so we'll have to wait for more detailed information from Mercedes (or one of the more connected members of the forum) to tell us whether the full "Mercedes Intelligent Drive" is going to be available on the 2014 ML's.
I'm curious, too, as my dad is ordering a 2014 ML, and I'd really like him to have the "Mercedes Intelligent Drive", if it is going to be an option for 2014.

Also attached are the relevant pages from the Operators Manual describing the system.
Unless there is a different BAS PLUS (BAS PLUS +!!!!??) then this appears to be the same.
