Changes confirmed so far for 2014 ML

it is probably gaining some ground because the 350BTs are very difficult to get, six month wait for an order, dealer sold their 350 demos. When I decided I wanted one, in the last week of Jan, they snagged a 0kms example that was inbound to the dealer network and un-allocated to a buyer. That would be an impossible feat now. But there are lots of 250 examples floating around.
So they carve a good discount on the 250, which they can have now, or very little discount on a 350 - which you can't drive until nearing christmas.

Has anyone heard if the 14 M will have the steering revised as the 14 E Class was? I find the current steering way too light with little road feel (granted it was two 10 min. test drives in two diffrent cars).

Confirmed with Park Place Mercedes of Dallas that the ML350 Bluetec will still be available for 2014 models. He said its on the 2014 order sheet which is their "gospel" with regards to new models.

Hello, I just ordered my 2014 black ML350 with the 421 Sport Package Plus One.
This package supposedly has the most sporty look as far as exterior goes.
The sales guy told me that I can add the running boards, looking at the picture of the exterior trim it seems like it looks sporty enough without the running boards. Does anyone have a picture so I can see how the running boards would look like on this particular package?
Thank you

I spent $1,500 for the dealer to swap out the running out on my MY13 ML550 because MY13 ML550s come standard with both the boards and same AMG-sports trim as you're ordering. The dealer's shop had to special order the AMG trim and paint them to match.
I had the boards on my MY07 ML350, thinking at first I wanted them and then grew to hate them. Beside making the ML look feminine, the boards dirty your suit pant legs. The newer ones starting in MY12 are a tab bit narrower, but still have the same issue.
My dealers inventory manager admitted that they've also been having trouble with the little rubber foot 'grippers' coming off over time (on the 2012+ models).
So, in all, would strongly recommend that you stay away from the running boards. It looks so much cooler without them...and you'll save yourself a good chunk of change. Or put the money into some other more useful option, like the multi-contour seats seats.

If when you were a kid and you thought you're training wheels looked sporty, then order the running boards. Or you have little people in your family who need help stepping up, then they are a practical choice. Otherwise, stay with the AMG-style trim. Your SA is just looking to up-sell you something that actually makes the vehicle look dorky.

I will order the sport plus one package without the running boards.

Anyplace they use volcanic ash and gravel on the roads during 7 months of winter and breakup. Plus dirt roads.
Mudguards help, but the Boards are great for blocking those pesky shards of silica, gravel and generalized schmutz that plague your paint. And there is plenty of schmutz flying around all winter long.
Plus they are convienient for knocking the mud and or snow off your bunny boots.

Bonus depreciation 2013
Does anyone know if the 2014 ML qualifies for the over 6,000 gross weight requirement? As I understand it, if the car is less than 6,000, your first year depreciation max is $11,360. If the SUV is over 6,000, the max is $25,000 for year one. I'm in between the ML 550 and Range Rover Sport but these Range Rovers are impossible to find and I am concerned that the bonus depreciation will not be extended in 2014.
