TjMadathil - I hear you on the space issue. I'm awaiting delivery of an ML right now. Along with what you are ordering, I ordered Lighting pkg, 399 and R33. I ordered mine with SPC order items 942 (cargo management), U09 (upholstery wrapped dash), Y90 (got black leather interior so had to do the black headliner), 739 (rear sunshades) and 581 (3 zone climate control). Once you pay the one time SPC charge, the items in SPC seemed more than reasonable in terms of cost to me. I did not order 289 (wood steering wheel) because in my other cars, I always felt like they got very warm while parked under the hot sun. I also did not order 846 (running boards) because I personally feel the car looks better without them. I never considered resale value while configuring the car so it seems that advice from the others is very sensible indeed. Good luck with your order!
Agree also on the running boards. The 'twist bars' that are on the AMG sports exterior package are provide the best look ...much better than the black plastic strips that come standard. But if you plan to do some serious off-roading, the standard trim would likely hold up better.

I have a list of all the 2014 ML pricing for every option which is able to be ordered. My total list price $75,500. Rebates being USAA member is going to give me $4500 off. And any additional negotiation will be done at financing which is 30 days out from delivery.

FX35, Looking at M-Class
I notice you have the poplar trim. Do you know if it's possible to not have any wood trim at all in the vehicle? I've gone through the pdf's you posted (awesome, thanks), but can't see an option for brushed aluminum or something similar.

Re lighting -- HID headlights are great. But auto dimming -- I agree, a bit erratic. I turned that feature off. The system that warns of a collision is also a bit erratic -- especially on things like a four-lane road with a median becoming a two-lane road. I turned that off too.

The USAA program price is determined by month of delivery - and you can reasonably expect the 2014 MY discount for Sept/Oct delivery to be lower than the USAA discount for June.. if your dealer hasn't been clear about this with you the you need to clarify with them.

I see they've added a charge for the black headliner option this year.
One note about the 3-zone climate option: it's not just zones. It also adds an air-flow density setting (diffuse, medium, direct or something along those lines) which, if you frequently find yourself trying to find a non-annoying direction to point an air vent, can make a big difference in how pleasant the automatic air conditioner is. It's much more ambient, for lack of a better word, when set to diffuse. I leave mine there all the time now, even on hot days.

It also adds an air-flow density setting (diffuse, medium, direct or something along those lines) which, if you frequently find yourself trying to find a non-annoying direction to point an air vent, can make a big difference in how pleasant the automatic air conditioner is.
