1) Anyone getting security added over and above factory security? If so, what kind? Anything with a smart phone interface?
2) Anyone installed a radar sensor? I see Mid-City Engineering has some that interface pretty seamlessly with the factory clusters. Looks pretty good, but not sure what they are like in practice.
3) Anyone have remote start that they've installed? Again, Mid-City Engineering has a pretty good setup.
They (at least remote starts) aren't here for the MY 2014, yet, but curious how others in this forum like/dislike for their previous year models...
I'll be taking delivery of my new ML this week and want to have all my ducks in a row for when she arrives

MBWorld Fanatic!
1) I have not seen anyone who has added security - the MB system is pretty airtight as compared to the theft issues that BMW keyless entry has been having
2) The Mid-City Engineering radar interface comparatively speaking is a BEAR of a install since wiring wise it has to "hack" into the rear of the cluster.
3) MB as a company has it's own engineering reasons for not adding remote start - in the MB thinking they don't want to open a "portal" or "gateway" for remote start hacks leading to theft - do a google on the Euro problems with the "new" BMW keyless theft problems - but that's MB
The Mid-City remote start has good user reviews - and it fortunate 99.999%+ of GL's/ML's don't have it or the hackers would start warming up their gear.
Keep the beat !

I have a drone remote start & a 9500ci indtalled.
I works great.
The only bad thing is that the rear diffuser gives me plenty of false alerts. I'm told by Escort that is due to all the sensors in the truck.
I have to send the rear diffuser to Escor so they can make it less sensitive.

I have a remote start from Mid City. It was a quick 15 minute install and it works great. It does not work with the MB app on the iPhone though, just the key fob.

Jb66, is yours a 2013 or 2014? If you got a 2013, how long after production date did you buy and was the remote start available when you purchased the vehicle? Apparently my dealership says it's not available for 2014, yet, but it seems as though it should be the same as for the 2013 (and even 2012 for that matter, right?).
Secondly, what is the going rate for an installed Mid City remote start?

Mine is a 2013 with a April production date. The remote starter was installed a week after I bought it in May. The install was $950 and it was done in 15 minutes.
The MidCity device is a true plug n go item. It uses the MB wire harness plugs, so it really is quick!

Wow! That's awesome
My dealership wants $1,200 and tells me it's not available for my 2014, yet. Darn.
If it's plug and play, maybe I'll be smart enough to figure it out...and hope a 2013 version will work.

I found the remote start owners manual and hope this helps you out. It's labeled as a "Firstech" FT-MB164-DC, but MidCity Engineering is who I called and talked to about the install. They were fantastic and were recommended to me by my MB dealer. I have no doubt you can ask about a 2014 and they will tell you what model will work for you.
