2014 ML350 BlueTec Ordered
After weeks of research (thank you for the tons and tons of great information on this forum) we just placed an order for a 2014 ML350 BlueTec with exactly the options that we wanted at our local dealer.
The delivery of the vehicle is supposed to happen somewhere in the middle of December.
Polar White
Black MB-Tex
P1 Package
Lighting Package
Heated Steering Wheel
Harman Kardon Sound
Keyless-GO
Driver Assistance Package (Distronic!)
Satin Ash Wood Trim
SPC MB-Tex Wrapped Dash
We've got a price that we're happy with -- 8.5% under MSRP with no specials (since I don't have access to any sadly -- like USAA or Fleet) and whatever incentives MB offers at the time of delivery.
I'm 5'10 and my wife is 6' so we decided to not get running boards -- tried the cars with them and just found them extremely uncomfortable since we kept trying to step around them and stepping on them somehow felt silly and awkward.
The only thing that I'm not sure about is the SPC Sport Interior. I was pretty much set on getting it since I really like the steering wheel and the metal on the pedals. However we looked at a C-class car with Dinamica inserts on the seats and just didn't like that material at all. Too bad I can't just get the steering wheel without the seats.
Anyhow, now I can't wait to get it!

You can still have them add the rear side airbags at no cost since you have already got the special order charge. I know on the website it looks like more money, but if you have your dealer punch it in right now, you will see that it doesn't add to the cost. I just added to my order a week and a half ago.

Strange. I did ask them about it and it's showing up at 480. Also since I'm going to put my kids into the back seat in car seats -- I'm just not sure if those air bags will be more harmful. I can't find any definitive research on the effect of rear side airbags and car seats.

I was wondering about that effect also. The only thing I could find is the ML350 side crash test on youtube. If you look at he video near the end, you will see the deployment of the side rear airbag.

Went back to the dealer today thinking of adding Ambient Light package, but turns out that the car went red in the system and no more changes can be done.
The system shows an estimated production date of November 15th. Too bad about the lock out. I guess I shouldn't have been thinking about this for so long.
Oh, well.

I have the Ambient Light package in mine and honestly not something I even really notice. So I agree you probably will not miss having it. I too am liking mine a lot more than I thought I would.

Got an email from my dealer today saying that my car was built on November 8th and should be here in 2 weeks. Also got a VIN number. It's been a long wait, a little bit more to go.

I'm in Brooklyn too, got the same email saying 2 weeks then in less than one week it arrived. My build was 10/4, the car arrived at MB of Brooklyn on 10/10.

Cool. So any day now then.
The surprising thing for me was the fact that it was scheduled to get built during the 2nd decade of November, showed up with Nov 15th as estimated build date, but got built on the 8th.
