The last ML to get it was the 2012 model. My '13 did not get it either. I asked MBNA back in late 2012 and got the following answer: "MBNA finally got back to me. Officially the 2012's came with the coupling, the 2013's did not. They went on to say that it could be bought at Walmart." (lol - Walmart - really)

Since it uses a standard size receiver, it is not too big of a deal since many want the option of selecting the drop (or rise) of the ball. Also, different ball sizes use a different shank hole size.
