Rear Seat entertainment - opinions needed
I am in the process of working out what options are a must on a new ML350 here in Australia.
So far the must haves are
AMG Sport package
Convenience Pack
Multi contour seats
Black roof lining
Tow bar
Panoramic sunroof
The big one i cant work out what to do is the Rear Seat Entertainment Package. should i just get it prewired, get the DVD Screens or ipod kit?
Do the ipads and DVD screens have a 'remote' as such, as our 22 month old daughter wont be able to reach the screen of the ipad to operate it from her car seat.
Any info on the enteratinment side of things or must haves in terms of other options please let me know, this is our first MB so there is a lot to digest!
Regards,
Hos
Nanook, if that is possible that would be ideal. Will have to investigate that option further.
Is the upgraded HK audio really worth the coin?

Recently I had the inconvenience of having mine at the dealer for 2 weeks and I was given a loaner B-Class for a week, then swapped into an E-Class for the 2nd week, both with standard non-HK sound. Both of them were still quite good, but when I got mine back and pumped up the sound I then realised it's a no brainer .. the HK is just mind-blowing and worth every cent!

That depends on you, how much you enjoy music, and the sources you listen to. If you only listen to talk radio or low quality MP3s, it's definitely not worth it. On the other hand, if you really enjoy music and have higher quality sources, I think it's worth it.
Convenience Pack (CV1) - should be standard - so get it!
Multicontour seats - I would probably got them if they were available at the time. But I have never seen them!
Black roof lining - looks great. I got it as it came with two tone leather. It is also available with Designo leather. I do not believe it is available seperately.
Tow bar - get an aftermarket Hayman Reece and save heaps. Same as genuine but no LCT.
Panoramic roof - you get a standard sunroof with the convenience pack. It is good and blocks out the summer sun 100%. I have heard the pano can 'blind' the kids trying to watch DVDs.
Get the Entertainment pack (EP2) which gives the HK sound, DAB radio, and the prewire so you can decide for yourself later for the kids entertainment.
And also make sure they do not ditch the Artico dashboard!

But still stick with the Airmatic.
The SP1 has RRP $6950.
I would rather spend $3350 for Airmatic and $250 for aftermarket tinting. (My dealer threw in the tint for nix)
You would not get the optional under grill, but the standard is fine by me.

I did this with my towbar and window tinting, and saved heaps. In fact I got a genuine MB towbar supplied and fitted for just on $1000, but I believe they're normally around $3000 plus. It was over a 2 day job to install it, but I don't think they charged me any labour costs, and I had a complimentary loan car. I had my tint fitted by Le Tint with a lifetime guarantee as the dealer was only prepared to do legal darkness but I wanted darker. If you do this be super careful at night though, especially going through roundabouts if there's a cyclist, or another vehicle without lights on you may not see them. If in doubt I just flick my window down to be sure.
It's an exciting time ordering a newbie ... hope you work out what you want and get a firm order placed soon. Doing it this time of year I imagine you'll get the MY14 model too, which I believe has the surround cameras and a few other nice new features, not sure exactly.
If it's the petrol ML350 you're looking at you might want to ask the dealer about the ML400 which is supposed to be replacing the 350 model soon I've heard.
