TPS Sensors for 2014 ML550

Would like to purchase an extra set of wheels, tires and TPS. If I purchase the new wheels, do I have to bring the car to the dealer to have it learn the new TPS or can I reprogram it myself. Its a 2014 ML550

Just swap them out of the original rims. Save like 300 bucks

what is the answer to the question though? I have a second set of rims wit sensors already in them. Will I need to bring it somewhere to reset the sensor or will it just recognize the new sensors?

Normally, you would by these pre-programmed to your specific vehicle. If not you will need to take it in to have them programmed. Any large tire chain can do this as well.

It just learns automatically within 5 miles of driving.

This is the case if you are buying OEM in which case all you need to do is follow the"relearn procedure". For Mercedes Benz, it is driving the vehicle a few miles.

If you are buying aftermarket, you NEED TO MAKE SURE that they come programmed (specific sensor protocols) to your specific brand, model, specifications, particularly, the right frequency. TPMS sensors are available in two frequencies, 315MHz and 433MHz (Europe). If you already purchased TPMS sensors and they were not programmed, NOT TO WORRY. You'll need to have them programmed at your local MB dealership or local reputable tire shop (requires a TPMS tool such as theVT31, VT36 and VT56).

Cheers

Thank you. These are the actual original sensors that came with the car. I bought someone else's factory 19 inch rims (and their factory sensors) and put snows on them. Now its time to switch back. Trying to avoid needing to go to the tire shop for obvious reasons these days.

If original and same vehicle, then you are golden. No need to do anything else other than drive it a few miles so they can relearn.

Cheers

Aftermarket

The sensors they installed where not oem but aftermarket. They automatically reconnected when I swap out the set.
