Streamliner,
I agree that it has had far too many issues but I never really considered a lemon law suit. I suppose the dealership treating me right kept me content. And yes, off road, beach and snow. I certainly don't baby it.

I know that this thread is supposed to be a lovefest and all but there seems to be quite a few problems even in the cars that people love. I really like the car when it's not in the shop (steering feels a little sloppy but maybe I'm just used to something tighter).
Can you expand on the strut problem. I have something similar but the techs can't ever "replicate" the problem at my dealership. I was thinking that if it really was a problem, it would just get worse over time??? Was there a visible leak on the strut itself??

His strut problem sounds the same as I had. Took 3 trips to he dealer to have it diagnosed. No visible leaks, but she could easily replicate the sound, esp over low speed bumps. The 1st time, my wife had went to the dealer alone, they told her since it's a diesel, the noises are normal. I had to go back twice myself & then after the part was ordered, it was on back order for I can't remember how long. This was about a year ago & it's hard to believe that the back order issue is still ongoing. Back then I was told by someone from customer care that these trucks were such hot sellers that as MB rev'd parts from the suppliers, priority was given to putting them into new vehicles vs being sent as replacements for warranty/repair work.

Very cool photos. It's great to see somebody truly enjoying the off road capabilities of a 550.

2013 in limp home mode at 6600 miles
I haven't even had my first service and the car was picked up by road side assistance 6 days ago in limp home mode and still haven't figured out which sensor caused this. The engine also had an overheating smell.

Love mine, but not trouble free:
- Fixed rattle at startup (thanks to awesome forum post!)
- Smell from A/C at startup in summer
- Speaker/bass rattle (have to keep my bass setting at -3)
- Windscreen washer fluid only likes expensive EinZett (get the warning light when using regular blue stuff
- Not the cars fault, but MB dealers are TERRIBLE - worst customer experience I have ever experienced. Ever.
That's about all I can think of that mar this otherwise excellent machine.

2013 ML350
ML350 2013 bought new
First 150 miles it acted up like stuck in low gear.
It was a faulty crankshaft speed sensor.
Dealer replaced sensor.
Since then not a single problem. Have about 7000 miles on it now.
Love the ride, power and handling.
Great looking in black

2006 ML 350 sold, 2014 Bluetec "Rudy"
1700 miles, zero problems, love the diesel, starts easy at -15 when wife takes it to work, heated washer fluid and Enziet fluid steams when it hits windshield!

Just like LoneStarFlyer need new struts. 25000 miles 2012 350. Clicking on low speeds during braking, turning, passing bumps. Parts on order. MB said it is safe to drive for now.

2013 ML-63 Front Brake Pads were defective and needed replacement. New Pads delivered after 6 weeks of waiting. Everything else is as perfect as it could be.

Funny thing is, they telling me only one on a right has to be replaced. I am fighting for both left and right. Supplier screw MB up with those struts. I. My opinion both has to be done. Will see....

Squeak, squeak...Forward or backward. Upon inspection the technician discovered that the pads were chipped at the edges and were grinding through the disks. He wondered how the factory would release a car with such defective brakes. To save the discs, I grounded the car for six long weeks until replacement pads are delivered. No parts were available in Canada. Apparently this is not a unique incident.

12 ml350 bluetec, 08 bmw 135i, 12 F250 PSD
I am not the original owner, but recently purchased a beautiful CPO ML350 Bluetec. When all is operating correctly, it drives wonderfully. Quite, comfortable, luxurious, safe etc.. BUT, so far our ownership has been far from great. Here is the list of things done in the past 7 weeks:
- oil cooler leak - replaced and also replaced a ton of gaskets (5 days in shop)
- Subwoofer not producing enough bass - fixed with sofware update
- drivers seat bottom stiching caming apart - replaced seat bottom
- rear hatch weather stripping deformed and not sealing properly - replaced with new
- ripples in headliner, Pano Roof (throughout the entire headliner). - replaced with new (had to order from Germany) in shop for 1 1/2 weeks.
- Hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. - performed software update
- front passager wheel bearing noise. - replaced with new (was on backorder) in shop for 1 week.
- 2 check engine lights (separate times). - replaced front and back NOX sensors.
- Front differntial went bad. - currently at shop. New diff. ordered from germany. Should be done late this week....another week+ in shop.
In 7 weeks, it has been in the shop for 4!
As much as we love the new ML, if these type issues continue, it will be sold.
On a good note, the dealership has been GREAT....and always provide a loaner.

Damn, you are way more patient than I would be given that laundry list of issues. I would have an attorney in my pocket demanding all my money back from the entity that sold me that vehicle. Unacceptable!

Except for a few minor annoyances I can't really complain, the W166 has been trouble free.
I will say that the W166 is light years ahead in respect to quality and reliability compared to the W164 (2011) it replaced.
