I dug for it into the settings..got to the heading but there's nothing more after that..I wish I had a build sheet for Frank..I didn't purchase him new but with 2800 miles...if you press firmly along the sides of the bottom where the bolsters start can you locate the "C" clips..they run parallel with the bolster...if you don't have them chances are you have different seats...and more so if you ahve the massage feature

Ping Valvestud (a member of this forum). He was very kind and gave me a complete data card describing my vehicle. Just need to provide your VIN.

Thanks for the great discussion everyone. My wife makes a 6 hour trip every other week - so we felt the comfort seats with the massage feature would be good. We were able to try the massage in a MB car ... but they didn't have an ML on the lot with that feature. The car we sat in accessed these extra seat features with a series of buttons on the seat (made accessing them easy) ... good tip from CLK200 to put the massage feature on the "favorites button" ...
We have 2 favorites buttons on the ML, right (or did I lose one with the comfort seats button)?

I have three favorite buttons on my ML on both driver and passenger doors. Maybe I am referring to something different to what you guys are?
I think they mean the fav programmable buttons on console

On a slightly unrelated topic - I found it increasingly difficult to get in and out of the car with a combination of multi-contour seats and running boards. A few MB forum users warned about this but I didn’t listen.
ChrisMclass, you do seem to have the above combination. What is your opinion?

What seats do you have? If these are standard comfort seats, do you mind posting a couple of hi-res pictures so that we can compare and draw a reliable conclusion?

I apologize - somehow I read SL500 as ML500 which took me to entirely wrong direction. We don't have to compare the seats between SL and ML, that would be insane.

I think you are referring to the seat memory ... you are correct there are three memory buttons for seats that have the memory option.
I was asking about the "favorites" button that allows direct access to a specific function in the COMMAND system.

I just did a side by side butt/leg length test of the standard ML drivers seat vs the multicontour drivers seat at my dealer today. It appears that there is a bit more room with the multicontour seat.
Those ridiculous running boards sure do get in the way though.

OK, guys, we need a time out on this one, as I am totally confused. I think the basic seat question, was regarding the STANDARD seats on a NON-ML63, vs. the STANDARD seats on a NON-ML-63, WITH the Multi-Contour option. I am seeing all these photos of ML-63 SPORT Seats, which are completely different, with their high side bolsters and such. If I am not mistaken, the STANDARD seats, in a NON-ML-63, with or without the Multi-Contour option are basically of the same design, appearance, size, etc. The ONLY difference is that the Multi-Contour option offers more adjustments and the massage feature. Is this correct?

yes ... I started this thread to understand how people felt about the benefit of the massage feature with the "multi-contour seat" option on the standard ML.
I believe the differences between the standard and "multi-contour" seats on the regular ML are:
The ventilated seat feature is a separate option (that requires leather). There are no additional adjustments to the ventilation when the "multi-contour" seats are purchased.
I believe the differences between the standard and "multi-contour" seats on the regular ML are:
- massage function (accessed via COMAND)
- several additional adjustments (tighten side bolsters, tighten seat-bottom bolsters, extend seat-bottom) again, all accessed via COMAND
- Ability to adjust the way the heating function is balanced (between the seat-bottom and the back)
The ventilated seat feature is a separate option (that requires leather). There are no additional adjustments to the ventilation when the "multi-contour" seats are purchased.
