Video In Motion - VIM

Howdy fellow ML drivers/lovers!

I have just purchased a Video In Motion interface harness for my ML as per the following link .....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251396084537...U:3160&vxp=mtr

I have a car audio/AV mate who is going to install it for me for free, although in the installation video it does look very simple.

Just curious if anyone else has done this using the NAVIKS brand one, the same as the one I have bought? Geez, I hope it's gonna be ok. All the research I did came back as though I'd be fine.

I'm not sure if it's relevant but I have COMAND APS with Harman Kardon, TV tuner, and rear entertainment package also.

Cheers, and thanks in advance

No worries, will be happy to keep you updated.

I am just waiting for it to arrive in the mail, which could be a couple of weeks, then I have to have it installed so it could be a little while before I report back.

Watch this space if interested folks ....

Thanks! I've been on the fence about the Naviks, motion city and the cheaper ebay option! I might just wait for your review before I make a purchase

Any updates?
Is this the only option? No coding?
Thanks

I have just received the unit in the mail and I'm hoping to arrange installation within the next week or so.

As far as I know this is the only option. Not sure what you mean by 'No Coding'.

Naviks

I've recently got Naviks installed and it works great. The only downside of MB system is that only DVDs will play. You cant get video from USB or mobile device connected.

Thanks guys.
BMW allows you to put a cd in and reprogram, or recode, the system to allow video in motion. No hardware.

If it isn't mid city engineering, I wouldn't run anything. I think this is the kit from *******. fixed a couple of their older rgb conversion kits in vehicles over the years.

So I'm extremely embarrassed that it's taken me so long to come back to you guys about this, but I finally had it installed this week and it works great. So sorry for the delay folks. I have just been flat out the last 6 months or so.

Now we have our new C250 as well so I'm going to look into this software unlocking from dvdinmotion.com instead of the using the Naviks interface harness which was a little painful to install.

Cheers everyone ... safe motoring!

Before you try a hardware solution, try this software: http://www.dvdinmotion.com/mercedes-benz

Let us know.

I have a lot of my videos on file, I don't really use DVD's any more, so if I couldn't watch in motion via the usb port, these option don't help me. Is there a way to do the same for video file via the usb port?

I bought this exact harness from NAVIKS and installed it myself. IT WAS VERY EASY to install. The only difficulty I ran into was taking off the dashboard front vents piece. Only because I couldn't find the latches behind the vents. Other than that, it was very simple and I"M LOVING IT! I no longer have to stop, pull over and put the car in park just to enter coordinates in to the NAV! AND of course, i'll admit, have played a movie here and there while driving! LOL ... But only movies that I've seen a thousand times. So that I didn't really have to look at the screen to know what's going on because I could envision the scene due to seeing the movie so many times.

Also... stay away from Bimmerguru.com they do sell software you can use to unlock the software blocking VIM, BUT... I wouldn't trust installing software from a third party which looking them up online shows their address to be at some run down mechanic shop in Canada and especially if your car has XM radio and GPS because there's no way of knowing if the code you're installing is not installing some sort of hack that the software developer made doesn't have a way to access to your car through your GPS system. Safest bet.. go with the wiring harness!

ANYWAYS.... I LOVE IT!

Spoiler

My input has nothing to donwith being "butthurt". It has to do with being in IT for the past 20 years and seeing what hackers are capable of doing. Including seeing GPS and internet connected vehicles being hacked and controlled. Everyone who's commented about their product and gave it 5 stars (only because it was easy to install) means nothing. Their reviews are more so based on Their ignorance and lack of research of the company itself.

So feel free in being nieve and ignorant just to indulge in something you know nothing about. I'll be the one laugh his *** off at all those who get their cars hacked and and are whining like babies because they "didn't know better"! LOL
