Anyone know how to split open rearview mirror ML?

I've seen detector LED panels installed into rear view mirrors and thought I might give it a go...removed the mirror but without risking damaging the mirror case stopped trying to separate the front bezel off the mirror...dealer quoted $2100 for a new mirror..so I'm curious if anyone has done this and can share how the mirror comes apart..tia

What kind of detector LED panels?

Both of my side rear view mirrors have red and yellow LEDs to indicate someone in your blind spot! $2100? WOW!

No labor...this is just the mirror,,,labor is likely another 500.

Can't help you with opening the mirror, but the part is only $1200 on getmercedesparts.com if you end up buying a new one. Interesting thing is that the price varies based on color. Brown mirrors are only $872, gray was ~$970 and black was $1200. MSRP on all 3 is $1500

thnaks geek..found a used one on fleabay ..wrong color but I could use (wreck if necessary)it to figure how to separate..but it's $160 plus $58 shipping and duty..and then there's the option for $500 and shipping of sending to:

..more research needed on my end..this mirror is not like most...the front trim does not snap off as I can see..it appears the back comes off and all the guts come away with the front..
