Bluetooth audio keeps disconnecting / reconnecting when not in use

Bluetooth audio keeps disconnecting / reconnecting when not in use
My ML350 seems to no be able to make up its mind when I have my phone paired for bluetooth audio. When I'm listing to another source, I happen to look at my phone and I see "headphones disconnected" popping up every few seconds.
It may be keeping my phone screen on (like when the screen turns on after getting a text, it never goes off), but I'm not sure. I am sure, however, that this is draining my phone's battery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Since I just put my library on a USB thumb drive I've been listening to that because of the better audio quality, so I have simply unpaired my phone for audio. I'd like to keep it though, since I sometimes use it for things other than music.
