2015 ML400 tire pressure

I noticed the recommended tire pressure is different depending on which label you read. The label by the gas filler cap reports a lower pressure for front/rear tires (32/33 cold) than what the driver side door label shows (38/46 cold). Both are for no load conditions.

Any idea which one is actually correct?

Go by the fuel filler door.

I too got shocked when I saw that fuel filler cap has much lower value than what is mentioned on driver side door label ... So far I was using 37/46 based on driver side door label and then recently I got my tire replaced with new tire at Discount Tire. I noticed they put 46/46 and I had to release some air from the front one to make it 37/46. Now if I go for what it says on the fuel filler cap which is only 32/33 which looks to be much lower than what I was using all the while. After doing some research online I found this doc (attached here) somehwere on MB customer care site which says what we need to follow is on fuel filler cap label. Per them what we see on driver side door is the "max" value... If that is the case why do even dealer and place like discount tires not using the proper tire pressure.. I went thru the user manual too and its not clearly stating. Knowing the right tire pressure for a car does not have to be so confusing and after hours of research, I am not sure if I am 100% correct that I should reduce the pressure to 32/33.

I have a 2015 ML 350 with OEM 19" rims and have run 36 lbs for 55,ooo miles. Seems to work for me. I check them once a month and got a little over 40,000 miles off the factory tires. I noticed whenever I have the car serviced at the Mercedes dealer they always jack it up to 46 lbs. I always readjust it. My normal mode of operations is just my wife, I never tow anything heavy .
