2015 ML400 no longer being produced?

I got a pretty good deal for factory ordered 2015 ML400 and put down a deposit last weekend.

Earlier this week, I get a call from the dealer saying that the factory is no longer producing the 2015 ML400 model, and I would have to wait until around October for delivery of the new 2016 GLE refresh. And of course, we would have to re-negotiate the price.

They did add that the 2015 ML350 is still available.

I was wondering, does the factory really not produce any new cars a couple months before a model refresh? Why would they still make the ML350 and not the ML400?

ML400 sells less and they have enough in stock to last until the new GLE goes on sale. They still have ML400s on hand in stock, but no new ones will be built.

ML350 is their bread and butter, that won't go out of production until much later, closer to the GLE's launch.

Ah I see, that makes sense. It's kind of a bummer, but I did see your other thread with the new 2016 GLE photos. I'm glad they finally updated the interior, so I think I'm going to wait.

Well.... there are about 200 ML400's on open/changeable orders for 1st/2nd decade May - if your dealer doesn't have one of those production slots - then he can "trade" for a slot - or you can find a new dealer..

Sounds like your salesman has been told: "Sell what you can see, don't see what you can sell".

"Technically" the order bank closed for new orders for MY15 ML400 on March 3rd - and order entry has not really opened yet for MY16 ... so that is partly "true"..

However, that does not mean a dealer can't make arrangements with another dealer for a changeable slot... open/changeable orders right now there for 5/5 thru 5/17
