2013 ML550 Navigation Disc Update

I just came from the dealer where I asked about a navigation data update for my 2013 ML550. I am currently running V8.0 of the map data and they said the latest is version V12.0 (part #BQ6460334) and they wanted $319.50 + tax. I was curious if anyone has been able to get the disc cheaper -- that seems like a lot for a data update.

As far as I'm concerned that's a rip off. I have a Garmin that cost $99 and works better and it comes with lifetime updates.

Take a look on ebay, you miht get an update that someone is selling on. I agree that the cost from MB is extortionate, dont know how they can get away with it.

A gaggle of MB's
Just so you know... the "high cost" isn't from MB... it's from NavTeq the source of the map data... MB hates the high cost as much as anyone... more recent models they negotiated with NavTeqg 15 forward for free annual updates for 3yrs... and got that concession ONLY after MB/BMW/Audi invested USD$800M in their own mapdata company - as much as a threat now - as investment in the future of Euro brand luxury electronics/infotainment..

I bought my 2017 Facelift SL because it had Apple CarPlay- I use Apple Maps and Google maps for driving and mapping- sometimes use the Benz one- but really most German car companies USA mapping is deficient- Maybe getting better but Apple Car play is all I need.

I believe you can get it online and download to a usb for around $99. Check the following link

I was planning to do it on my ml and glk, but i always used my phone instead enter the address manualy. I wish there is a feature that we can just send the address from our phone to the navi

THX FOR THE LINK. I'LL CHECK THE WEBSITE OUT.
BTW IS IT JUST ME, OR IS THERE NO AUDIO ON THIS.

Done! $150 for a USB, $130 for a download. I chicken-*****ted and went with the USB *sheepish grin*

dunno where you are located, but occasionally my dealer sends out update coupons for $99 updates... That's what I do in Florida....and only because they build neighborhoods here in what seems like overnight...

They must up the price, last time i check was like $100. Oh well, still better deal than the dealer. No sound for me as well for the video. If the dealer can do it for $99, that will be a sweet deal

Let us know how it go once u done ur update with the usb

I just updated my 2014 ML350 from V10 to V19 from mbnavupdate.com for $130. It was super easy. I downloaded the files, copied them onto a FAT32 32GB SD Card, turned the car on accessory, inserted the SD card. My car said I had V10 installed and asked if I wanted to upgrade to V19. At this point I had to send my VIN and order number to to mbnavupdate.com people and they sent me the necessary code to do the update. They responded quickly (in about 20 minutes) with the code. I entered the code and the update started.

It took about an hour to complete the update. I think the throughput via SD card id faster than using the USB interface, but I'm not certain. I connected my car to a battery tender just to make sure I didn't run the battery down. You could also probably just keep the car running.

I did everything using a Mac. I wasn't able to get my car to recognize my USB stick when I plugged it in in the center console back storage bin even though I had it formatted as FAT32. It wouldn't recognize it with just an MP3 file on it either. Not sure why but the SD card worked great.

I tried numerous times to get the dealer to update the database when I took my vehicle in for service. They would never actually do it. They always made excuses. They forgot, they'd "look into how that works", they forgot to order the disc when I made the appointment, etc. Even though I was willing to pay, they just never seemed interested in making it happen. Anyway, I'm glad I was finally able to get this done. And, it was way easier and less expensive than dealing with the dealer.

I'm so glad technologies like in-car cellular data and CarPlay are making onboard map databases a thing of the past.

And starting with '19 models, you can download the maps for free from the Mercedes Me portal. I've updated mine three times already. Mercedes has finally fixed this problem.

I wonder if the usb and the code can be use on another vehicle? The navi is not connected to the internet, there are no way for them to tell how many vehicle that usb installed. Too bad i live in canada, otherwise i will love to give a shot and see if the same usb and code will work again and share the price of the update with u

The point of the code is to prevent installation on multiple vehicles. I believe you supply the VIN when you order the update, and this is encoded into the license key.

If you watch the video online, every time they enter the code, the blurred the screen. I think the step sending the vin number to generate a code is bs. They may have a set code for different year or option. If you think about it, all the media interface are the same and can be install to different model. I doubt they are vin coded and have ability to recognize a unique code. Again, we won't know until we try it

I just updated as well. Easy to do, and instructions are clear. While it's not as up to date as Google Maps, its a good backup for a small price, especially in some areas where I travel with weak cell service and I don't have the google maps downloaded offline.

Hello Peter,

I thought you were using Carplay??? I remember seeing another thread with a guy selling the kit from AliExpress and thought you bought one. Has it stopped working or is this for a back up? Thanks for the info.

I have carplay, dunno how it works. I was so frustrated trying to get the damn thing to work, when I finally did, I somehow lost Google Maps and I just use the screen to mirror the OEM

I now understand fully the term "going postal".

I've been trying to reach the clowns at mbnavupdate.com repeatedly for two weeks. The instructions-on-line state that they will send you a licence key. They didn't.
Customer support blows, I've sent at least 4 messages to them with nary a reply. They say to go to LiveChat, that was a nightmare... To download the program I'd need to have my company IT guy load code into my computer. Like, WTF????

Definitely not impressed to say the least.

I just got a copy from them, and it was easy. Do you have a pc computer to download the file? I did it with my old Lenovo laptop and my cell phone. The whole process was smooth, only take maybe few hours for them to send back the codes

How the hell did you get one from them? I've been emailing the *****heads for almost a month with no response.

Yes, I have a computer and a laptop. BTW, the USB stick they sent me looks nothing like yours.

EDIT: I purchased the USB stick, you purchased the file and downloaded it yourself, that's the difference.

How did you reach them? If it's through "support", you're lucky. It's the only way to do so and they've never gotten back to me, even though I include my cell #

I believe each code/license is purchased from the source so there is a cost associated with the download.

Hello all,
Just picked up a 2013 ML 350 BT last week and was curious to see if my vehicle has an up to date navigation map? Is there anywhere through the menus where i can check which version i have installed?
Thanks in advance.
