parts source and local shop in Toronto

hi, sorry if it was already discussed - what online shop you can suggest as a parts source for w166? Need to replace air filters (spring cleaning

Also, any recommendation for local indy shop specializing in MB in GTA area, North York, Richmond hill, Markham?

I read that oil change price is on par with dealer?

These guys are in the US. By the time you add the exchange rate, duty, brokerage fees, taxes and shipping to Canada, for the same money you could buy TWO of the same part locally from any dealership.

Aside from the parts departments in the various dealerships, we don't have an OEM parts supplier north of the border, probably because of the much smaller customer base and also the absence of something like the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which essentially states that car companies can not void your warranty if you chose to have it serviced elsewhere, i.e. the work can be performed by anyone. Here the car has to be serviced by an autorized service center (i.e. dealership) or they can indeed void the waranty on a vehicle.

There are a few half-decent third-party shops in the GTA, but with one possible exception, they all fit into the "All European Imports" category and they are easily a generation (I mean car generation) behind. While they may be ex-factory trained techs and know their way around a 15-year-old Benz, when it comes to the newer cars they have mostly learned (and still are learnign) their stuff by trial and error, so in the case of a W166 I would spend the extra 20% and book a service appointment at a CORPORATE-OWNED MB dealership (there are about 5 or 6 in the GTA), where they will give you a free loaner if you ask for one and book your appointment far enough in advance, and where you'll have it serviced by a factory trained tech and you'll get at least a 90-day warranty on the repair. The exception I mentioned earlier is Charlie McNally at McNally Auto Service (Keele & Finch area) who is the only MB specialist about whom I've never heard or read a single bad experience or story, but again, while he may have an impeccable work ethic and attention to detail, I am just not sure how up-to-date he is with all the newer stuff coming out of Stuttgart. For simpler things you can take it to any half-decent "all imports" shop like GTEK (Jack has worked on my Porsches before, but he is a Porsche mechanic by training, not MB).

You might as well make us the 51st state... for as long as The Donald doesn't get elected, that is.

I bought the 229.51 oil and filter here http://germanparts.ca. I thought the prices were pretty good and delivery was very fast.

On my bmw, I used http://Autopartsway.ca . They didn't have the right oil, so I haven't tried them for mb parts yet.

Do a search online for discount coupons- you may get lucky.
