How do I install rear hatch star emblem?

How do I install rear hatch star emblem?
My star emblem came off or was stolen, not sure which. The car is a 2012 ML350 4-matic. All that is left there are three little metal protrusions where I guess the emblem sticks to. The stars I've seen for sale on the internet have those metal pieces attached to the stars themselves. So, I'm wondering how do I attach this emblem?

My guess is that those metal studs are part of the emblem itself. You might have to remove what remains of yours in order to install a new one.

Thanks, and I think you are right. Every picture of the emblem I have seen has the three studs attached. When the star came off (or was pulled off), the studs remained in the hatch. I just might take it to the dealer because the car is still under warranty and this might be covered under the warranty if they agree it just fell off rather than stolen.

I took the car to the dealer, they had the emblem in stock and charged $24, including installation. Looks good as new!

Someone tried to pry mine off & cracked the plastic, so they left it. Nobody wants it now, so I leave it cracked & a little lifted off the surface.
