2014 ML350 New tires, what's your pick?
Hi Everyone,
I'm in need of new tires, of course I want nice quiet smooth ride. I bought a set of Michelin Defenders LTX and they are smooth and relatively quiet, but they feel like a light truck tire on the car. I am thinking of returning them. I am now thinking the Michelin Premier LTX, what are your thoughts? Any other brand I should try? I do have DWS on my E350 and like them but want to try something else.
How about Nokians for Winter (R2-SUV), any comment on that would be good also, I do have an extra set of Rims
Thanks

Our '14 ML350 2w CPO came with Continental Cross Contact LX Sport tires. Never had the brand before. They seem pretty quiet. We mostly drive on concrete roads which are inherently noisy. They are quieter than the 20" Goodyears on my Durango.

Replaced my OEM Conti's with the Michelin Premier LTX at 35,000 miles in August. Since I have only had them on for 4,000 miles, I can't speak about durability; but I can attest that at 36psi, they are quiet, handle well and do not hydroplane like the Conti's did. So far, I am pleased with this choice.
I have a 2012 ML 350 4Matic, gas, with standard suspension.

Replaced my wife's original Pirelli Scorpion Verde's with the newer version All Season Plus:

Quiet, smooth riding, great tread life and price is reasonable.

2015 ML 350
My 2015 ordered in Oct 2014 with 19 inch Dunlop/AMG Wheels from the factory. 1st time in many years not riding on Michelins. Would definitely get them again for quiet ride, tread wear and price on this RWD car. 35lbs all around (I rotate them at every A/B 10K mile Service.)

My ML came with Dunlaps and they did ride well but are terrible in the snow. I do have Pirellis on my spare rims but did not try them yet. I have read mixed reviews on them but I am interested in the season plus upgrade. Has anyone tried the Defender LTX yet?

It's been a week and the tires are nice, they do ride smooth and really quiet. The tires are a bit firmer and you can feel the cracks in the road a tiny bit more BUT they are the tire I am sticking worth.
One more thing-
Discount Tires are the greatest!!! They went above and beyond to help me. A far cry from the rip-off artists at my local Tires Plus!!!

2012 ML350
I'm having the dealership put Pirelli Scorpion Verde V rated 107 XLs on our 2012 before we take delivery. I have had these tires on a Land Rover and a Volvo XC70 previously. They do well in the snow, handle well in dry weather and last a long time. People have complained about them being louder than the OEM tires on their SUVs but I rotate my tires every 5k to help prevent that. So far so good. In the past I have found that Dunlap really wasn't great in any category, Michelin had a couple of good individual models/lines and Toyo did terrible in the snow and Nokian and Bridgestone make great snow tires (no news there).

Late response but I just bought a 2012 ML350 4Matic and bought a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires for it. Highly rated on Tire Rack where I bought them.
Haven't had them on long enough to review them but I like they way they look and handle so far.
