IPod use in a 2014 ML / Uploading to the Hard Drive Questions
Can anyone tell me if the factory cable that comes with the ML in the center console provides any additional functionality over just plugging it in with a USB cord? I got a factory cable with the new connector type and I want to connect and leave an old IPod with the old style in the center console.
Can you use an SD card or jump drive to upload music to the hard drive or can it just be done with store bought CDs?

the only way to upload is through the registry but that only works with CDs (from my understanding)
What you can also do is buy a flashdrive, add music folders then when you select "USB storage" you can play music through that too.
