Driver side DRL LED strip not working - possible causes

Hey guys, girlfriend came back home tonight saying there was an error message who showed up while she drove back from work. Sure enough, the driver side lower LED strip (DRL) doesn't want to turn on while the right side works fine.

Anyone had these LEDs fail on them? I've looked around couldn't find a single thread online about it which is quite surprising.

Any help in diagnosing the problem is welcomed.

for the most part, the DRL's shouldnt turn off, its a rarity, at best. Is the car still under warranty?

Unfortunately not. It's a 2013 CPO initially but out of warranty. I'll take it off this weekend and see what's happening.

If anything i would say look for the replacement DRL from ebay or possibly a ML thats being parted out, go to a dealer or MB mechanic and just pay for the installation/labor charges
But if its the fuse itself could be different thing, good luck

How difficult would it be to DIY the LED replacement? Had one go out on me this morning...

this happens a lot.

The drl ends up failing for some. Common on x164 models from 10-12 now that they're getting older.

You can order the part from your dealer. Replacement will necessitate removal of bumper or just some torx screws if you're lucky.

Yeah looked at the plastic housing holding the LED last night and it's not held on with TORX like on some of the sadans. So it looks like i'll have to drop the bumper. Not something I'm willing to tackle w/o instructions, so off to the dealer she goes. Surprisingly my dealer quoted me a better price than the local mechanic.

To follow up on this in case anyone finds themselves in the same boat as me. Ended up taking my car to the dealer. The dealer asked if I would wait on it while they fixed her up. I said "no I don't feel like waiting that long". My service rep said, oh no, it should take less than an hour. Basically they can access the LEDs by removing the wheel well liner. Took the dealer about 45 minutes. If I would have known this from the start I would have done it my self!.

TL;DR - You can replace the LED by removing the wheel well liner and accessing it from the back. No need to take the bumper off.
