Could Someone Explain the Parking Brake on a 2013 ML Series?
i recently purchased a 2013 ML 550, however I have yet to figure out the parking brake situation. I looked it up in the owner’s manual, which referred me to the owner’s cd. I put in the cd, but it contains over 1800 files and I just don’t have time to look at every one. Could someone give me the reader’s digest version of how the parking brake works in this vehicle? Thanks very much.

Termite is correct.
The PB in this vehicle is electric. It is activated by the dash button.
As he said, press to engage and pull out to disengage.
You will likely also hear the electric motor during these functions.
An additional note, if the parking brake is engaged and you place the vehicle in Drive or Reverse, as you press on the accelerator it will automatically disengage.
It does not disengage by simply putting the vehicle in gear - it waits for you to press the accelerator.

Here is the link to the 2013 M Class owners manual on MBUSA: 2013 M Class Owners Manual
Starting on page 180 it gives you the instructions on how to operate the parking brake.
Let me know if you have any more questions
