2014 ML 350 locks itself with key inside the car
My W166 2014 ML350 has the keyless entry that senses your key is close to the car and will lock or unlock by touching the door handle.
This past week i have had 2 situations when I left my briefcase on the front passenger seat with the key inside it.
When I closed the passenger door to walk around to the driver side the doors locked by themselves.
Yes it sounds strange, the spare key was miles away, the key was inside the car and I was locked out twice. This is pretty scary, could it be a safety feature that has been accidentally activated and does anyone know how to disable this feature.
Or is there something really wrong with the car?
For it now I will use the pare key and hope the key was acting up and not the car.

not sure what the problem is, but when I am washing my car at home and have the key in my pocket , it is constantly locking and unlocking as I am washing the car. Its not because I am touching the door handle either. I don't know how long you have had your ML but it took me a long time to figure out the door handle, ie touch the little square to lock and then just touch the door handle to unlock. I was always touching the wrong part of the handle. Hope you get it straighten out.
