Bluetec engine light on
It’s late Friday and I’m 400 miles from home and my engine light just came on. Car is very sluggish and the trans doesn’t want to shift properly. Called Roadside assistance and they can’t do anything till morning. I have a place to stay but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?

If it isn't running in limp mode and everything seems fine, I wouldn't sweat it right away. Is the truck still under warranty? Year and mileage?
Edit, just re-read your first post. Sorry. Looks like you're gonna need to get it towed

They say I need a new particulate filter, and they don’t have one. Asked if I could leave it for a week. I’m on my way home the way it is. They reset the code and said I should be ok, and Good Luck!

This & high monthly depreciation make me think about trade in our ML no matter how much we like it.
Good luck, and keep is updated.

There is another forum member who is waiting for DPF filter ordered in Germany for a few months already. He couldn't find a single dealer who had one in stock.

Speaking on depreciation, gas version drops value twice or three times slower vs diesel version, thank you VW

The fact is, other than the swirl valves (EGR) getting all crudded upAlong with , the Adblue tank issues and the DPF, the OM642 seems to be a pretty good engine.
At 25k miles, we've already replaced the Adblue tank/heater assembly and the truck is at the dealer for a Mass Air Sensor as I type this.
I dunno if they do vehicle inspections in Ohio or FL, but they don't up here in Quebec. We're booked for a EGR/Adblue/DPF delete in October, along with the necessary ECM retune.
Along with high(er) zinc content oil and oil/filter changes every 3k miles, I 'm gunning to rediscover MB reliability afterwards...

I just got a letter from MB Canada, due to the diesel gate, MB will extend warranty to 10 years or 193,000 km. I don't know if in the US offers same or not, don't follow that much lately on the forum. I hope yours will cover under warranty.

Good for you, I hope that happens here. Right now I just want to get mine fixed. Local dealer doesn’t want to do anything

The DPF is covered under the extended emissions warranty - check your manual. If you get check engine light again with a code for DPF they have to fix it in that period. You also have some good lemon laws in the USA which may apply to you. If you go into "limp mode" again try shutting off the vehicle and restarting. That may reset limp mode and get you going. The check engine light will not go out necessarily. I have this problem all the time and I keep restarting to get out of limp mode until I can get back to the dealer.

I have not reiieved a letter or heard of the new warranty for Canadian Blu-tec diesel owners. Can anyone share this so we can take advantage of the warranty extension in Canada?

Are talking just emissions or entire vehicle?

My car has been at the dealership since 2/7/19, waiting on parts. The SA said DPF and sensors. Second time for this engine code since Sept.'18.

How many miles on your truck? Just curious as I'm in the same setup, and have 6 months left on the CPO warranty to figure out what I want to do with an additional one, for this very repair. Thanks

I picked my Ml up from the dealer on 2/28 3 weeks and $6k plus in warranty repairs. The ENGINE LIGHT came on again yesterday.
