2013 ML350 - P0336 CEL
-Engine smoothed out within a few seconds and then ran strong/smooth without issue. The vehicle ran fine for a 15min drive home. Once home, restarted it again twice without issue. CEL stayed on.
-Used the MBII ODB reader and read P0336 code. No other codes.
-Cleared CEL light with MBII tool
-Restarted a few more times without CEL and without rough start
-I've read that it could be starter going, cam shaft sensor, bad wiring, or possibly a battery issue.
Since there were several successful starts after the car ran for a while on my drive home I'm not focusing on the starter. In addition, if there was bad wiring I'd also assume a problem would persists.
Thinking now that the battery getting tired, or possibly a cam sensor starting to fail?
Question: How many cam shaft sensors are there, and were are they/it located? I've looked for schematics online without luck.
Question: Can a cam shaft sensor fault once and then be okay?
Is my logic sound? Any suggestions are welcome.
When i get to the car i will follow suggestions...
I bought a reader some time ago. It is in the car so i don't even know which one it is right now as i am away from both (out of town)... the vendor of the reader said it could real the whole car -- but, it did not read the Blue Def heater failure we had!

Anyway -- point being -- which reader is best???
Thx again
Charlie
