2015 ML250 .... question about a leak

Under the vehicle, on the right side toward the front is a leak. It is slightly colored oil/fluid that is dripping on my garage floor. Maybe 1-3 drops once the wife drives home.

It is NOT motor oil.

My son looked at it and wonders if it is power steering fluid.

Anyone have a guess?

That truck has electric steering right? I know the gas ones did by that point. Not many 250's come in for me.

Gotta track it and see where it's coming from. What color is the fluid?

If I poured 0w20 oil in my daughters Toyota and ran it for 500 miles..... that's what this oil would look like. Very light oil that is slightly, very slightly dirty.

It drips from about 12" inside the front, right wheel.

Tomorrow I will crawl around the bottom and snap some pics.

Seen axle seals leak on those trucks, and a diff oil would make sense with your description. Gotta look and see where it's coming from, there isn't much that far out on the side that isn't brake fluid. Remember though, the whole bottom is covered in plastic so where it leaves the vehicle component isn't necessarily where it hits the ground.

The leak is hydraulic fluid from the control arm. Mechanic said it is a common failure on ML's, especially in really cold weather. $400 to fix....so not too painful.

Could be also steering wheel fluid - I got it on previous car just before I went for 1000 miles ski trip. If so, you don't need change everything -replace just middle part (dealership asked 3000 $ and I got it below 1000 $)
