2014 ML 350 Troubleshooting
I intend to work on it myself to lessen the cost of owing this fine vehicle and have been searching around on this forum and google to get my self acclimated. As luck would have it, my wife took it to NC and the check engine light came on. I had her take it to the dealer to get checked out and was told it has a bad EGT sensor, upstream from the turbo.Price on part is $100 (from web) and dealer wants $700 to change it, so looks like ill be doing this one myself.
The main question I have is what device I should use to read the codes and do I need a service manual? I have read that some of the diagnostic computers have the service manual digitally integrated into it? I was a mechanic in college and do controls for a living so I know my way around mechanical/electrical systems.
The more I read, the more I am confused as to what I should get, any suggestions or advice ?
