2014 ML350 Code=153500, Do I need to relearn after replacesing the NOx sensors

Hi All,
My parents 2014 ML350 Bluetec had a check engine light on the dash, took it to dealer charged $280 for diagnostic, steep! Found the code 153500 which dealer type in the report saying the NOx sensor UPSTREAM of SCR catalytic reacts too slowly.
Quoted $870 each, plus 2.1hrs of labor @ $180/Hr, that's $870*2+$180*2.1 + tax= $2400.

The dealer has given the following part numbers, 0009053606 upstream, 0009053706 Downstream, they both have a square metal chip/module attached.
But on RockAuto.com they gave out only O2 Sensors, which I don't think is the same as NOx. anyone shed some light on this please~

I purchase a WIS/EPC Program and found the procedures needed to change the NOx sensors, but I can't find anything on Reset/relearn/readaptation, nor can I find the code 153500.

Yes, that's the cost for two new sensors and the adaptation. What are you asking here exactly?

Is there a cheaper way to get around? I can replace the sensors myself quite easily, but a couple of youtube vids said SCN coding is required afterward. Can this coding and reset be done myself or at an indy?

ps: just got another quote from MB in Seattle, roughly $1800USD for both, labor included.

Not really. Aftermarket NOx sensors are crap - there was another post here on the same subject just a few days ago. If you have DAS Xentry and can do the adaptations yourself, then you may be able to save yourself the labour portion. The parts cost what they cost, as does servicing the car. If you are uncomfortable spending $3-4K a year on repairs and maintenance, I'd suggest you consider getting something cheaper instead.

This whole forum is about finding more economical ways to repair Mercedes vehicles because we all know that dealerships will rip you off for any minor or major repairs. If you're spending $3-$4K a year on repairs then there is something seriously wrong with your car.
