2014 ML350

Hey yall, just purchased a used 14' ML350 bluetec

Any long time owners of these bad boys?

I just did an oil change at the benz dealer and the oil is black, not sure if that's normal.

Any input would help

I have a 2013 ML350 bluetec. Love it. It's a diesel so of course the oil turns black within just a few miles of driving even right after an oil change. Oil leaks from the oil cooler seals is a known issue and an expensive repair. Mine went in today for the oil leak issue, but lucky for me I have the extended warranty. Exhaust sensor failure and DEF pump failure are some other issues to be aware of.

These vehicles are very sensative to the type of oil used and using the wrong oil will poison the particulate filter. Several folks have reported that even the dealers occasionally use the wrong oil and that's one reason I change my own.

thank you for the reply man, glad youre enjoying it. I actually did research on the emissions stuff and I think I'm going to go ahead with the delete (egr def, adlue) but the mechanic said to not touch the DPF because then the car will sound like a tractor and it will smell. He told me as long as I delete the other stuff, it should be pretty solid after that. Any input on this ?

Yes, I'd probably do the delete too if it were not illegal.

That is the 3.0 V-6, correct? At some point they switched to a 4 cyl diesel.

I had delete done on both my glk and ml. Both vehicles are still running really strong. Best decision ever made. If you live where does not require emission test, get the delete done, then u will feel the true power of diesel. For example, i can spin all 4 my tires of my ml when I kick down at stop. I guess that what 500 ft pounds of torque can do

Awesome man!!! I seen on your posts that your from Calgary, so I'm I man!! I called and talked to the ecu program guy and he told me to do the first phase delete first (egr, adlue, def and that stuff). He said to leave the DPF in place for now and to not disturb it unless it gives issues then to remove. Did you fo it all or did you only do the first phase delete and left the dpf attached ?

I did the stage 2 because i don't want to go back to the shop if I don't have to due to where i live. Plus the price difference are very minimal, and you can get a lot more power when you do the full delete. If you live very close, u can definitely listen to Sam, since he is a pro when it comes to tuning.

I live in Calgary so shouldn't be a problem to go see Sam. I heard though that if you do the full delete that the engine is very noisy and theres alot of smell? Is that true

Didn't notice too much noise different. In terms of smell, yes u will smell the diesel, special if you standing behind the exhaust. But not bad overall. I don't mind it. I had both my vehicle done. You cant smell it once you start driving the vehicle

I dont care about smelling it when I'm outside the vehicle, I'm worried about smelling it In the cabin. I'm not sure if you smell it inside or no?

No for 95 percent of time. The only time u can smell it the odd time is when u sit in traffic and the wind is blowing at the exhaust direction, you can smell a bit, but not horrible. If you want, send me a pm, next time i am in Calgary. I can let u hear it, smell it lol
