Fuel pump W166 2014 ml350
I was able to get the fuel tank to replace the pump after it took me all day to get everything apart and get the tank down and it’s the hardest DIY work on this ML it’s not like the older model at all , my question is which one is the fuel pump and what’s the one on the other side of the tank ? Was wondering if it’s the filter

According to the diagnostic test it shows that code
update: here is the fuel sending unit with the filter
note : l wasn’t able to remove The Whole tank all the way down because of the middle transmission bar , somehow.. lm able to work on it side by side if lm going to replace both but the sending unit has not given me any code so l would replace the little filter as shown on the picture and now lm going to order the fuel pump as well. Hard diy work though!
note : fuel pump and the sending unit needs a special tool or you will end up breaking the lid cover as l did ! Hopefully will turn out the pump issue.
P0087 OBD-II
due the car start jerking and died on me me while driving and won’t start and the next day starts for about 10 minutes and died again so l did research for the code and it says that fuel issue, it could be the pump or the fuel sending unit which we think is fuel filter!update: here is the fuel sending unit with the filter

Yes finally removed both of the fuel pump and the sending unit filter- looks good but the fuel pump not functioning properly l guess , cuz it doesn’t make a proper sound as well so l ordered the whole part just don’t want to keep testing every piece of the pump though! Anyway the tank was the hardest thing l ever seen on the MB w166 model and just to let everyone know that about the fuel filter is not on the engine nor on the front as the older w166 2013 to 2015 is inside the tank lined with fuel pump . I hope this will help others because l was looking everywhere how to get to the fuel tank and non was listed on, now have to wait for the pump and see ,
well this is what have noticed about the fuel pump something was burned out if you can see around the sensor ?
do l need to replace the sensor only or just start with the whole pump l ordered?

I don't see any reinforcement above where the fuel pump is in the picture. Is there anything preventing dremeling my own access point like in the previous model and plating over it when done? Just getting a game plan in case my problem ends up not being my control unit.

Hmmm, I've a 2014 ML350 BLUETEC and had the fuel pump replaced at Park Place Mtrs and I've replaced the fuel filter which is on top of the engine. I"m not sure anymore what car you have. There's a video on YOUTUBE on replacing the fuel pump on a 2014 ML350. You access the pump by removing the bottom of the seats in the second row and pulling carpet/panel up as in the video.

Pump replacement,
No lift ,was behind my house just used the regular plastic ramps on the rear and it was not that difficult until you get to the tank and you have to decide if you take it down or do like me loosened the passenger side and pull it down all the way to be able to remove the fuel pump and l did , good luck
