Android 8.4" Display Installation (Information & Help)

I want to post an informative thread about the installation of an Android Screen that might help some people but also provide me with some help on a few things I am stuck with.

My issue has to do with the resolution of the original NTG 4.5 system as the new screen does not seem to be readying it correctly. I am aware there is a setting you can select the correct version of the screen but until now I have not been able to find that said menu.

There is an excellent thread for the C Class W205 which I have been through but to not much result with regards to my issue.

Here are a few images from my install:

Original look.

Old screen out.

4G + GPS Antenas positioned under the dashboard space.

Test run.

Screen working ok, centre control buttons work.

The issue I have with the original NTG System resolution.

Cheers!

There are a few videos detailing the installation far better than what I can do on this. As I said it is more to keep the information under one roof for future reference, obtain some helpful info and maybe solve some issues along the way.

Between the two installation videos below you will have everything you need to do the hardware installation:

I also did manage to solve the Screen resolution issue, if you tap 3 times to the Settings ICON greyed out below it will open the hidden menu that lets you select the correct screen resolution for your car.

These android screens are all junk. Wish they could just make a upgraded screen, keeping the original ntg.

You can still use the original ntg system with it and it works 100% as OEM. I only wanted the screen for additional functionality, waze, spotify, etc. I use the my phone with the original NTG system..

if you treat them like a screen to run simple apps, and don't try and upgrade the OS every time a new one is pushed, they're actually fantastic. And yes, you can keep the NTG functionality.

Did you change the interface at yours at all? Used a custom launcher or anything?
Also, did you have any issues with the static noise I referred to in my first post at all?

Do you have any pictures of the screen while backing after you updated the resolution? As is, the backup camera resolution is terrible.

Backup camera resolution is determined by the camera, NOT the display.

Agreed, reverse camera quality is mediocre at best. However as you said its the camera not the screen.

Do you know if you can connect Apple Car Play or Android Auto for image only but still have all sound and calls going through the OEM MB BT system?

Can you post pictures showing original NTG? Like navi, settings, etc. I have night vision, wonder how that would look..
