W166 Distronic Badge removal

Searched everywhere to find a way to remove the front emblem and cannot find anything related specific for the w166 distronic version.
I tried gently using tools and twisting but worried I might break it.
Has anyone here removed it or know how too ?

You pry it out. Don’t twist. There are 3 clips hold it in place. One at 12 o’clock, one at 4 and one at 8. Use the plastic pry tool.

That's correct. Need to pry it out from the three clips behind and it's not easy to release. I found it almost easer to remove the front grill to get at the emblem clips.

Of note: I was told by a Mercedes parts supplier this is the only emblem that can be used in front of the Distronic radar sensor. I ordered a diamond grille through AliExpress from China, (fit perfect! and hundreds less than NA suppliers), but that grille wouldn't accept the Distronic emblem from my OEM grille. So the search started and to my surprise no other front MB emblem is suitable for use in front of the radar. There's many versions available on-line but all say not for use with Distronic. Guess the manufacturing can't guarantee a uniform surface for the radar to penetrate whereas Mercedes version can? Anyway, sent the grille back

Diamond grill

I found it easy to remove once grill was off and installed the diamond grill but had to use a fine saw to cut a very small groove on the grill in behind to allow the badge to sit flush. To fix it I didn’t want to use glue just in case I ever wanted to remove it. So I used 3M foam tape and bunched it up behind each of the 3 clips and then used fishing string on each clip and anchored it to the closest notch avoiding the centre of the badge.
