2014 ML350 left headlight ground fault

2014 ML350 left headlight ground fault
I have a 2014 ML 350 Bluetec. I have a left headlight fault to ground. It is not the bulb. I believe that it is not the fuse but I am not convinced I have the right fuse - f229 in the engine fuse box.
is that the correct fuse? I do not have a diagram.
if it is there is 12v at the fuse.
where does the ground end up so I can check that.
any help welcome

It is a HID headlight. It is in the shop now to get the module replaced but turned out that made no difference. They are trying to trace the short - $ are racking up -
Anyhoiw, if anyone has experience headlight shorts on ML350 then I would like to hear them.

It is a 2014 ML350 Bluetec with 113K miles which have owned for a little under 2 years.
VIN 4JGDA2EB3EA397804
the drivers side headlight stopped working with the code registering a short to ground . I had it diagnosed at the dealership and it is a fault in the wiring inside the headlight and a bad control module.
They did not charge me much for the diagnosis considering they had the whole of the front to of the car off. However their quote to fix it - replace the headlight and the control module is close to 5K - ugh.
I have an independent mechanic who is sourcing parts for me to reduce the price. I have found a headlight unit for less than $1000. Are the aftermarket parts any good. Can the headlight be fixed?
What would people do not to spend 5K?

Sounds like the headlamp and module need to be replaced. Options are dealer, indy shop or DIY. I would use OEM factory MB branded parts, but it's a personal choice.
