Another Tire question (Continental vs Pirelli)

HISTORY: I have 2015 Ml with approx 82,000 miles. Currently have Michelin LTX with little over 40,000 miles. The tires are will be 5 years old in Oct. The tred is still good, but the car seems to be riding rougher. ( 19 inch, OEM shocks and strut were replaced last year..)

I feel I need new tires due to age even though, I probably have another 10,000 miles (not down to wear indicators)

I want to replace them with something that is QUIET and SOFTER riding. Im not too concern with snow traction .

My research has me looking at two tires
1. Continental LX vs Scorpion Verde AS plus 3.

Lets hear it from you guys and gals. Which should it be.?

Tires

5 year old Michelins should be fine still...no rough ride. Michelin has very soft and pliable sidewalls, and remain so for a good 10 years. That being said, I like the Pirelli Verde for my ML550. On my second set. Good, quiet ride, great traction, great price. Stock Continentals seem to have worn out pretty quick. Id keep the LTX until worn out...a great tire (mostly for full sized pickups, not SUVs, but a great tire).

Unless the car has sat still under the sun for those 5 years, those tires must have @10K left, correct?

I will be more concerned with your tire pressures. Has the car been recently at a tire shop/service for one reason or another? It really upsets me when I get my car back with 40+psi on the tires because "that is what the manufacturer recommends". Once the car starts rolling, and your tire pressures go up to 45psi it will feel like bouncing around and rough. Check the gas tank door for the recommended tire pressures, and adjust them at your desired within +/- 2 psi depending on the ride quality.

Tires still not down to tred wear indicators. They measure 6MM. I think you are good until the reach 4MM. I am fanatic about checking tire pressure. I run 36 PSI all around and check it when the tires are cold. So maybe its all in my mind, but my wife has mentioned it too me.

Conti CrossContact LX25. Quiet, soft riding, long lasting, and less expensive than the factory LX Sports.
