Turbocharger wastegate not holding boost.
Found a stored ECU p0299 (turbocharger low boost) code. Calculated boost pressure won't go above 1 bar at full throttle. Took it to a 3rd party Mercedes mechanic for diagnosis who told me that the right turbocharger wastegate is not holding vacuum. I was quoted $4400 to replace the entire turbo. I was wondering why not just rebuild/adjust the wastegate instead of replacing the whole turbo.

I have the same issue.
Answering your question: Dealer told me that no part is being sold separately so you have to replace the whole unit, which is quite costly, like $2K per turbo, plus labor - around $1K. I'm thinking how to solve this puzzle. My diagnostics at dealer's shop was performed with that code P029900. The verdict - "turbocharger waste gate leaking internally, need to replace the turbo".
The original issue is that I literally feel harder shift to the 4th gear (when down shifting with higher RPMs).
