Keep in mind that the MLs have 3 rotor sizes. 325mm (standard), 350mm (ML500) and 375mm (ML63). Pads different for each most likely? Im not sure but something to be aware of. Some sites show the dimensions of the pads so look there

What BlackML550 said is correct. Make sure to check which rotor size goes on your SUV. Mine is a 2013 ML350 bluetec but uses the 350mm because I have the AMG sports package.

2013 ML550 US spec. Air+Offroad pkg
Probably said somewhere above, but to save a few $, take rotors to like Oreillys Auto Parts and they will turn your rotors for like $8 (even drilled ones). They measure 2 make sure enough material on to not go below spec. If doing rears, make sure to do the brake release/retract procedure on your dash buttons to prevent breaking the screw gears back there. I have procedure somewhere if u dont have it.

Yes, I would love to have this to provide to the shop just in case. Thanks!

I looked up the rear electric brake procedure in another thread and will take a copy to the mechanic.

BTW Are the inner and outer pads identical or are they slightly different (to accomodate sensors maybe)?

Inner and outer pads are different. Backing plates vary (one clips into the piston with a metal claw, the other simple rides on the caliper) and they will have a slot on the top alignment about half way along for the wear sensor. You can't mix them up - they only fit one way and you'll see this when you get the pads.

Are you going to do them yourself?

Thanks. No, I'm running a business full time, still trying to dig out of covid, so I don't have the time. If it was just pads I might attempt it, but they are going to resurface the rotors for me, whereas the other shops (that I had not done business with before) wanted to replace rotors that are still in spec, which felt like a hustle. I've worked with this shop before with multiple cars and they've always been fair. All I had to buy was F/R pads kit and their labor fee is much more reasonable than the MB specialty shops ("reasonable" given that we're in CA, where nothing is reasonable and everything tends to be more expensive than other areas). Dealer quote was $2600 (!), indie specialty shop quote was $2100 (also ridiculous), so I feel good with my old shop, all-in (parts, labor, resurface) for around $600. Dropped it off today.
