2012 ML350 4Matic mirrors won’t fold
Hello, this is my first post here. I just bought a 2012 ML350 4Matic (gas) with only 25,000 miles. I'm familiar with the model putting 100,000 miles on a 2012 ML350 Bluetec. I can't get the mirrors to fold on locking or by using the middle button on the driver's door card. The mirrors move easily with the adjustment buttons, the passenger mirror drops when reversing, and the memory functions work. The mirrors will fold in manually and don't make any strange noises. The feature is enabled on the dash. I have seen people needing to reprogram the mirrors after a battery change, but those people always report the button on the door works. Has anyone encountered this? Could there be a specific fuse? I do have a dealer only 3 miles from me and they are happy to look at it for $185/hr and I'm pretty handy.

No, I haven't experienced this. I would use a diagnostic scanner capable scanning your car's modules thoroughly and look for related trouble codes.

Just a thought, have you checked if the vehicle has power folding mirrors with your VIN? Should be code 500 - ELECTRIC FOLDING OUTSIDE MIRROR

I am unsure how to look that up, but the feature is in the software on the dash and "enabled" and there is a button in the middle of the two mirror tilt switches to fold the mirrors. We sat with it for a few months but decided to go back to the dealer and he said it'd be $257 diagnostic, but the estimate was $2,000. That's more than 10% of the value of the car so I walked out....Any other thoughts?

Ok, thank you for that link. Yes, my car has that 500 option. There is a notch on the mirror bases that the mirror clicks into so you can manually fold the mirrors. The driver’s side notch is in the open position but the passenger notch is in the closed position…which seems weird. The “convenience” feature is enabled and I’ve done the multi step, enable, disable, car on/off reset, but every other post seems to indicate that the driver’s door switch can also reset it. My driver’s door switch foes not work, though all the other mirror and door window switches do function normally. It’s an exceptionally clean car with only 28,000 miles.
