Yes but it requires frequent inspection. Separate the ECU connector and spray both sides with contact cleaner and let it evaporate, or blow it out with compressed air. Do the same with sensor connectors and magnet connectors. Doing this repeatedly is "cleaning" the harness over time. In practical terms, the oil will never be fully removed from a contaminated harness. But you can mitigate or avoid misfires if you keep after this.

Worst case scenario of saturated harness is when a significant quantity of oil enters the ECU, and/or contaminates O2 sensors and injectors connectors. Repeated cleaning will hopefully avoid the worst case.

2015 Mercedes Benz ML 350

quick update guys i cleaned cam sensors and all the following sensors o2 sensors right bank and left bank cleaned the ecu connector but i started the car and misfire still stays and seems to only happen on idle i was checking smooth running of combustion engine on xentry and fault counter said misfires only happen on cylinder 5 on idle when the car is at a cold start and when driving it smoothens out one more thing that i noticed that uniformity of lambda right bank and left bank were both red but after i cleaned them the right bank became green but the uniformity on left one is still red the weird thing is that i did not even find oil on left bank lambda i found oil only on right side lambda and after cleaning it became green so conclusion i couldn’t get the car to idle normally even after cleaning so i dont know if its worth giving a try to change sensors yet now im thinking of changing the ecu i already got a replacement ecu from donor gle i just need to clone it im thinking that would fix it if it doesnt i dont know what to do next if just cleaning would fix the issue i would be changing all magnets, all camshaft position sensors but u dont want to throw money for no reason i also checked all fuses on engine none were bad i have a question for you guys can you guys help me find shop that could clone my ecu for cheap or some other way i could do it myself but im not going to dealership and giving them thousands of dollars. please let me know!

I had the same issues and I ended up having to bringing it to dealer where it was an actual recall of and they did some “campaign “ thing with the ecu. Oil did show a bit in it. They really need to either replace the cars with this problem. I spent $1600 on coils and plugs and sensors. Guess what. Yr later. Boom got the shakes again.

Thats where im at right now i changed all four camshaft solenoids they had very less oil in them still changed them ordered camshaft position sensors which are the ones that supplied oil into the harness gonna clean the harness and see how it goes from my research uniformity of lambda can be thrown off by camshaft position sensors im hoping its that mechanic told me my ecu is cooked got that changed too what did you end up doing with your car.

getting a second opinion and maybe a gas can and match lol. Sorry. It’s just this car is hardly driven and regular maintenance with only 61k miles. And for it to have these issues sucks really bad. I’ve had a “specialist” say that the timing is off but he told my wife that which it’s her daily driver so I just want to get a second opinion. I just can’t see a problem popping up every other yr after they say it’s fixed. I hope you find a solution but I think I’ll be moving on from this one after I get it fixed.
