Hood not opening, and Distronic/Blind spot inoperative

I just obtained a used 2012 ML350. Unfortunately, I cannot open the hood. It is very difficult to pry open the hood release latch, and it still does not open the hood. Today while driving on the highway, the hood became loose. I am thinking it is a broken/dislodged hood release cable. Is there a DIY for this?
Also, on a separate note, the cluster shows that Blind Spot and Distronic are inoperative. I used an advanced OBD reader, and it showed no problems with the radar or distronic functions. However, there was something about a blind spot open circuit. Is Distronic something that can be disabled so I can just use cruise control? Is there anything else suggested?

To switch from a very advanced and expensive function like Distronic to Tempomat, it will need a very advanced coding/reprogramming and some switches exxchanged.

I really appreciate all the help.
