Rain sensor parasitic drain?

I've suspected something has been drawing on my W166's battery for some time now but not sure exactly what. I've always kind of noticed this but wasn't sure if it was normal. The snow from around my rain sensor is always melted off when I go to clean the car in the morning.

Picture below is from the vehicle sitting for 24 hours not "woken up" by the key. The snow is completely melted off. Is this sensor heated to this extent or does it just mean it stays active and heat generated melts the snow? I also have an aftermarket dashcam, but its wired to the fuse box on the driver side that should also shut off with canbus 20-30 mins after locking the vehicle.

Apparently the newer V167's had a recall for this sensor but not sure that this generation was effected.

Might want to pull the fuse for that circuit when you park. See if snow continues to melt or battery suffers drain.

I would disconnect the dashcam, and repeat a similar test, or do a parasitic drain test.

Looks like it was deffinetly the residual heat from the dashcam, unplugged last night and the snow is staying. How crazy that I've had it installed for years and I always just thought was that small heated line that keeps the radar collision camera clear...

I'm sure your battery charge will benefit from less draining.

Good job disconnecting your dashcam parking vampire.

Now find a run-time power connection with a Key:ON circuit... such as the nearby "rain sensor" module.

I contacted the dashcam manufacture and it turns out they have a plug and play adapter that taps power off of the rain sensor. Hopefully solve the issue, its pretty hard to find an ACC wire on modern MB's.
