high pitch noise from dash

high pitch noise from dash
2014 ML63 car been sitting for 5 days, I opened door and high pitch squeal coming from the dash, not loud, sounds a bit like the squealing in my ears.
Can turn up the radio and can drown out the noise.
turned off stereo unit and air conditioning unit, the noise continued.
disconnected the battery under the seat and the noise continued. (or is the stereo be powered by the battery in the back?
sounds like an air leak under the dash behind the stereo
is this possible?
any ideas on what it is and the resolution?
not enthusiastic about pulling out the stereo but might have to to discover the source of the squeal,
