Can anyone give me any direction? I have a 2006 E55, this is my second 55, my first was stock, I bought this one already modifed.. big mistake Im thinking.. the car has 98,xxx miles, I recently changed the oil. upon start up, the car smoked profusely (oil) and had a knocking that sounds like its from the upper end. Anyone ever hear of this? The car did not smoke or knock when I pulled it in my shop, I put 8.5 quarts of mobil 1 5w40 in it, and a new filter. I drained oild from both sumps.. Please help!

I would've guessed you put too much oil in it. Sure someone didn't accidentally start it before putting oil back in it? Does the "knocking" go away once everything cycles through or engine warms up? Good luck figuring it out.

did you do any other work along with the oil change? sometimes when doing sparkplugs oil will drip into the cylinders and upon your first startup the car will puff some smoke. this should only happen once, on the first start after the spark plug change.

is the noise there all the time now?

Did you ever figure this problem out. I just changed oil in my 2010 550 and had the same thing happen.

make sure oil level is correct or you can get vqalve train noise form low oil or a rod clunking noise down low from overfill. The 55 vavle train can be noisy at times and even clack for a while until oil circulates.
