SL63 Shifting Issues MCT
The MCT transmission is a nightmare. The car is designed to start in 2nd gear until the transmission oil reaches 30c. This is why most of the hesitation occurs when shifting, especially cold. If your delays continue to occur when warm, look at the throttle body first. There were a lot of issues with the original production. They have replaced my Throttle Body, MCT Wet Clutch, Transmission, Rear Differencial, and ECM (twice). I still have the same jerky issues when cold. Only saving grace is to warm up the car first. When warm, the car drives like a dream, and if yours doesnt, get it in and complain. I had to get 2 regional factory reps involved.
Poorly designed transmission in a beautiful car. Wish they would go back to a stronger torque converter. Hard shifting and delay cant get any worse than the MCT.

Yes, mostly when cold. They have replaced the Trasmission, wetclutch, throttle body, rear differential, left cat valve, and air/gas mixture valve. Flashed ECM twice etc....
Not to mention more reprogramming that NASA uses to launch a rocket. Car jerks and ****s hard, especially the downshift to 3rd. Any thoughts?

AMG adivses to change the wet clutch in cooperation with them to a more current version.
It requires also new software initiated by a new SCN coding

My car behave the same as you describe your car , especially
When its cold , i took it to the dealer 5 times , they tried several things also they re adapt the transmission software , but it didn't help , finaly they decide to replace my internal clucth parts with newer one like in the new SL' , they want to replace my tcm ( transsmision control unit ) and pcm ( srart up clutch ) .
Now after i read this post here i dont know what to do , cause as you describe , it wont solve the problem .
Anyone have idea how to solve this ???

Fought the same issue on my '07 CLS63. Turns out the intake manifold was fubar with regards to the flaps inside and a bad air leak. I chased the issue for several months then my independent mechanic figured out, (After replacing TCM, reprogramming several times) that the manifold leak kept throwing codes to the tranny that were basically bogus. After replacing intake manifold, all tranny issues went away. Still hard shifts 2/3, 3/2 when cold but I can live with that.

My understanding, having not been there while he diagnosed the problem, was that he sprayed some carb cleaner around the seal of the intake manifold and the car would die. He was then able to figure out the inner flaps were not operating properly and a new-rebuilt one was ordered in from Florida. I didn't want to buy a new one at $1800.00 from Mercedes so found an outfit out of Florida (You can find their stuff on eBay and maybe Amazon) that rebuilds them with aluminum flapper parts vs the stock plastic ones. Got the "new" manifold for around $700.00. Power is much more linear now but, and this doesn't make sense to me, gas mileage has dropped around 3-6 mpg, depending if it's highway or city driving. I can live with 19-20 mpg highway, 14-15 city to have reliability.
