Refreshing the divertor valves on a M275

MB makes a divertor valve kit, and since my car has high mileage I figured I will repalce them.
Price of the kit is 40 per side.
A fellow member Adam has been very helpful in guiding me. I may change out the spring on the divertor valve with an aftermarket 5 to 15 psi one.
Just picked up the kit.
As per WIS the passenger side one can be accessed from the top but the driver side one has to be replaced from the bottom.
The 600 and the 65 share the same part number.

When you let off the gas, the engine vacuum opens the spring in the diaphragm and the boost generated by the turbo is dumped back into the low pressure side of the turbo. People say once these are refreshed throttle response is better.

/\ They are located on the turbo compressor housings. I wrote the part number down somewhere, just have to find it if Shardul doesn't chime back in with it.

I believe this is where they are.
Correct me if I am wrong.

My car has been behaving strangely on the over-run, so while I had the nopportunity I took my divertor valves out.

On one of them, the rubber diaphragm had split, so the valve must have been stuck closed.

I tried to get a new one from my MB dealer today, but was told they weren't available.
I've been searching everywhere; even tried translating and searching in German.
Can anyone help me source a pair of new divertor valve diaphragms?

Thanks, Nick

they do sell a kit with the covers, springs and diaphragms.

ON EPC pull you the turbo manifold diagram and select the divertor valve cover and I will include the above mentioned parts.

Do you mean item 45 this diagram?

I've never been able to get EPC working on my SDS, so I pulled this from mbpartsworld.

Thanks Shardul,

Still struggling here. I took that picture back to my dealer, which he found on his system, but the item was greyed out, so not available in the UK.

I also called half-a-dozen leading turbo rebuilders and resellers in the UK, but none could sell (many didn't know what I was talking about at first).

The part number given by mbpartsworld is 2750960002. If I buy that, do you think I will get the diaphragm, piston and spring, as well as the cover?

Obviously, I'd like to be sure that P/N is for the assy, not just the cover.

Cheers, nick

Yup, its the right part number! The description is "cover", but its definitely a kit with all the parts, including bolts (which are difficult to remove in situ, as there's so little room around the valve cover.)

:-)

You really don't want to know.

Changing the motor mounts, diverter valves and ABC pipes is trivial at the moment...

Yup. One of them started leaking and burning oil, but in reality both were coked up around the rear piston rings. The heat shield had filled with oil which burnt and built up to the level of the shaft. I think its typical of what often happens, and my impression is that they might have been servicable if I had simply cleaned all the coke off and re-assembled them back together again. However it took so much work to get them out, and the repair kits only cost £50, that there's no point not doing it properly.

Its funny, I've been speculating for a year that there's got to be an easy way to do motor mounts and other "engine out", jobs that I was almost looking for an excuse to try it for myself. Then this happened, and I didn't have much choice. As always with the V12TT, its been a learning experience, and apart from automatic transmissions, I'm not really afraid of anything anymore.

I have two new engine mounts and six ABC pipes also waiting to go in this weekend, and this is how I do it ....
