2004 SL600

I just had an oil change, and now when driving I periodically get the add 1 liter at next refueling message. To be on the safe side, I added only 1/2 liter to see if the message would stop coming up, but the message still comes up intermittently while driving.

As far as I know, the M275 takes 8.0 L. After car sitting off for 5 minutes, I went into dyno mode and checked the level:

9.6 L - after sitting off for 5 minutes
7.0 L - started engine, and it slowly worked its way down to this
5.4 L - kept revs at 2k rpm, and it dropped to this
7.0 L - let it idle and it returned to this

Can someone else with the same engine please do the same and tell me what they are seeing? My concern is that if the engine takes only 8 L, then it may be overfilled, but then I wonder why it is occasionally asking for another liter other than a bad oil sensor. I certainly don't want to run it over-filled, so your input is greatly appreciated.

(Procedure to check oil level: engine at operating temp but off for ~5 minutes, then turn key to position 1, bring up temp on the display, press odo reset 3 times fast, press up arrow on steering wheel to bring up oil level menu, turn key to position 2, now read oil level on left LCD (it will show up after a second or so), then start car and you can continue to monitor oil level. shut car off to get out of diagnostic mode)

What are others seeing, running the same tests I above?

Thank you, I'll keep my fingers crossed that everyone else is seeing the same...

and thank you to anyone that can do this for me!

According to my owner's manual for the M275 (V12TT) engine, it takes 11 quarts (10.5 L) of oil.

No, I have a 2006 S65 which also have the M275 Bi-Turbo engine but I guess they have different oil pan than SL600?

Have you consulted with your owner's manual for the exact capacity?

I'm sure the S65 has a few differences resulting in a different oil capacity. Yes, my owner's manual states 8 L, but some have said it takes 10 L. The only way to know for sure is to have someone else check the above procedure. Actually, even though you start out with more oil, I would be interested to know how your oil level sending unit responds to see if it responds the same way as mine does. If you can spare a couple minutes to test yours with the above procedure I would certainly appreciate it for comparison sake.
