SL65 AMG Appreciation / Re-sale Values

I have a 2005 SL65 AMG in mint condition with an extended warranty and was wondering about the resale value of these cars.

I see they are being traded at way above Blue book value for 2005-2007's, can anyone comment on this as low mileage cars seem to be holding their value and hardly depreciating. Is this because of desirability factor and the fact that so few were made during these years? I think 300 - 500 cars a year.

Interested to hear anyone's opinion on these cars.

They may be listed way above blue book value, but I don't think they are selling higher. I looked at 2 of them in the 80k mile range, average condition as compared to the other cars I had been looking at, right around the $20,000 mark before I ended up buying my S600 instead. Sure, they are rare, but there also aren't a whole lot of people out there in general trying to buy them (obviously that's different around here, but in general, they are in low demand...not many people realize what they are).

I should clarify that I was looking at S65s, not SL65s. The SL65 does have more general sex appeal and may well do better, but I wasn't really considering them when shopping so I don't know what pricing is like for them.

SL65 R230
Here in Germany I look at the prices for SL65 for a long time. In the last 2 years the prices stabilized a kind of. But there is low demand and high mileage cars are waiting a LONG time for a new owner. But the low mileage cars get rarer and rarer and this results in higher prices for them. You have to find enthusiast or collector. In my opinion the lowest value for the mint and low mileage cars is reached e.g 2004 and 2005 cars and the prices are climbing. Maintenance book is very important for the price and not many owners is also helping. Downsizing of all motors helps also to make these cars rarer. When I look at the older cars like R129 the mint and low mileage cars also are climbing and not going for cheap anymore. It will be interesting how much the SL65 R230 will be worth in 5-10 years.
