M275 "whoooooo" noise on quick throttle release

Hi everyone,

This may be totally normal but in the last few months I have noticed a "whooooo" noise when stabbing at the throttle pedal that I don't think was there before.

Only really happens with a quick press and release of the throttle while in gear. Is this normal?

I hope to get a recording of the sound if there are no obvious answers.

Thanks

Does the whole car lurch backwards and forwards when you do that?

Nope, no lurching.

Not normal. The first thing to check are the various pulleys which route the serpentine belt - those are service items and need replacement once in a while. When the bearings go bad, they start making various noises on acceleration/deceleration. If you take them out, they may appear to be perfect without any play, replace anyway as they are still likely the cause. If a pulley fails completely, it will shred the serpentine belt making the car not driveable at the most inconvenient time and location (ask me how I know)

If replacing the pulleys does not fix it, the next one will be the round metal pulsation damper on ABC pump, also a service item which needs a periodic replacement. There may be many other reasons too, but those 2 are the most likely and worth replacing regardless (if not done in the last few years).

Please keep us posted on what you find out

Collapsed engine mounts were the cause. I can only imagine the quick press and release of the throttle was causing the engine to move and loosen off the intake hoses to the air filter housing.

Sorry to jump on this thread with a different issue/question. I need to replace my pulsation damper on my 08 65. Can I do this without losening the pump from the engine and will I introduce air to the system by doing this? From the look of it, I think I can just unscrew it from the bolt head that's welded to it after I remove a few hoses. Any help is appreciated.
