M275 5.5L front sump to rear sump conversion

Hey everybody,

I am looking to buy parts from a local seller, to convert to rear sump, so I can attempt to swap my spare M275 into my C124.

seller is stating that all that is needed is the lower pan, but I think I need more parts.

i

I‘m assuming I need the upper pan (30) & lower pan (80), as well as what looks to be a windage tray/ splash guard (20) and all gaskets & affiliated hardware.

also, is that an engine oil dipstick???

all my front sump M275 engines have the ****ty oil level sensor, so having a dipstick conversion sounds awesome.

Thank you!

You will likely need the upper and lower pan from a Maybach. That's a real W240 chassis, not the tarted up W222.
Rare and spendy, you'll likely need to sell a kidney or two before visiting the dealer.

I believe the 2004+ R230 SL600 & C215 CL600 both had rear sump M275 engines, if I’m not mistaken.

I have a seller locally that’s parting out a rear sump M275, I’m just trying to figure out what parts I need, so I can make sure I get it all at the same time.

It's been a while since I was under a SL600 or SL65. If I recall correctly those were mid sump pans.

Maybe someone with one of those cars will chime in.

OP if you are going to the effort of fitting a bent-12 to another car the only engine to consider is the six liter with a pair of turbos. Same size package..... much wonderful sickness.
