Hi. Curious why you’re selling, thanks. Are these their ‘Monster Series 3” ultra high flow catted downpipes?

Hey there, yes these are their latest 3" monster series downpipes.

I recently bought these from someone on one of the Facebook C43 groups. These were installed on the same car seen on one of LEM's YouTube video's demonstrating the sound. When I got this car I never planned to get downpipes since I didn't want to spend the time removing and re-installing them for each smog check. I bought them out of impulse since I wanted to just give them a try, and besides that I have the stage 2 maps on my AMR tuning suite which would be a waste if I did not try it at least once.

That aside, I will be transparent to the reason I am selling these which are fitment issues. These downpipes are perfectly ok for C43's but apparently for the C450 there is no guarantee the bracket will line up on the passenger side. The person I bought it from used it for several months on his C43 and fitment was perfect. There are also countless others using these without issue. BUT, on some or perhaps all C450's the passenger side bracket does not line up.

I managed to rotate and align it to the bracket with one bolt/nut I had laying around. But the heatshield of the driveshaft became in the way - so I removed and bent it enough to make clearance. It all looked good and I took it for a drive but discovered that a part of the front drive shaft was now clinking against the heatshield. I simply bought a new heatshield and returned to stock. I do not recommend anyone with a C450 buy these unless you plan to run it without a bracket, or fabricate a custom bracket.

I could have made a custom bracket... but I quickly got tired of spending so much time messing around with it when it should have been direct bolt on.

I contacted LEM by email about this fitment issue. They replied to say that they reached out to a family member who's using these dp's on his C450, and acknowledged he had ran into the same problem. They said he ran it without a bracket for a year before fabricating a custom bracket. They also said that they sold these downpipes to a handful of other C450's and that the others must have either not had this fitment issue, or dealt with it and did not bother to mention it back to them.

For those interested in sound clips, I did take cold start and warm start videos before removing them.

Thanks, appreciate the honesty and transparency. I have a C400, so likely in the same (or worse) situation. Interesting on these model year fitment issues. Another guy had fitment issues with an intake on his C450, that (supposedly) fits fine on the C43. Thanks again, GLWTS.

I would assume so too, the C400 probably has similar fitment issues with these. I too have LEM intakes on my car and had fitment problems with drivers side heatshield. It was too long and would not fit into place properly and ended up cracking. So they mailed me a revised heatshield which has been perfect. I am actually going to install the Modalworks intakes soon once I get replacement filters or clean and re-oil the ones I have.

Modal was the intake someone posted some fitment issues with their C400, maybe reach out to Modal and/or the forum member prior to purchase. Nothing worse than fitment issues, especially when the mods are $$$.

I already have them laying around, just wanted to clean and re-oil the filters as they got sand on them. Modalworks includes an adapter/spacer for anyone that has potential fitment issues on the passenger side, where the carbon was pressing on the wastegate

i had these on my old c400- there was some finagling to do, but got them to fit. i guess its more financially viable to do a mold of a current model and have the end user to tweak to retrofit with other previous model years. But I seen and heard c450 and c400 owners running these so i guess they made it work. I also had the LEM intakes and the MW on my now current 2021 FL. Sold the LEM intakes (just because I wanted somthing more oem, as I loved these) and returned the MW ones- even with spacers and the new o-rings etc. the carbon fiber was rubbing on different parts to the point where it almost rubbed through and made a hole. Plus the filters are truly not sealed as within the enclosure hot air can still get in (i know this as I held it up to a light a saw light creeping in). The fitment was garbage- but it looked sexy.

I may try L.E.Ms Lux box with sprint filters for a OEM look (replacement inlet elbows and top hats for the OEM airbox).

I've not heard of those yet. So they're making replacement inlet elbows to replace the pipe directly connected to the turbo? That sounds very interesting. Can have an oem box with no sound deleting baffles to hear those turbos more. That's something I wish a company did a long time ago.

It took a while but the dp's eventually sold. I definitely would've let them go to you for 550 if they hadn't already sold.

I forgot to update this post to sold, someone from the fb group purchased it
