Description:
Used Logos Engineering Motorworks Downpipes, located in San Francisco east bay area. New gaskets on the midpipe side are attached which were used for one day.
$700 picked up or $750 shipped within the U.S.
I recently bought these from someone on one of the Facebook C43 groups. These were installed on the same car seen on one of LEM's YouTube video's demonstrating the sound. When I got this car I never planned to get downpipes since I didn't want to spend the time removing and re-installing them for each smog check. I bought them out of impulse since I wanted to just give them a try, and besides that I have the stage 2 maps on my AMR tuning suite which would be a waste if I did not try it at least once.
That aside, I will be transparent to the reason I am selling these which are fitment issues. These downpipes are perfectly ok for C43's but apparently for the C450 there is no guarantee the bracket will line up on the passenger side. The person I bought it from used it for several months on his C43 and fitment was perfect. There are also countless others using these without issue. BUT, on some or perhaps all C450's the passenger side bracket does not line up.
I managed to rotate and align it to the bracket with one bolt/nut I had laying around. But the heatshield of the driveshaft became in the way - so I removed and bent it enough to make clearance. It all looked good and I took it for a drive but discovered that a part of the front drive shaft was now clinking against the heatshield. I simply bought a new heatshield and returned to stock. I do not recommend anyone with a C450 buy these unless you plan to run it without a bracket, or fabricate a custom bracket.
I could have made a custom bracket... but I quickly got tired of spending so much time messing around with it when it should have been direct bolt on.
I contacted LEM by email about this fitment issue. They replied to say that they reached out to a family member who's using these dp's on his C450, and acknowledged he had ran into the same problem. They said he ran it without a bracket for a year before fabricating a custom bracket. They also said that they sold these downpipes to a handful of other C450's and that the others must have either not had this fitment issue, or dealt with it and did not bother to mention it back to them.
